Kicker - Black & Orange

A relatively new pattern to the Salmon Fly world, this fly has gained some notoriety on the river Tay and other systems as a great taker of difficult fish. Given to us by Bob White, head Ghillie at the Stanley fishings on the river Tay, the pattern is almost reminiscent of the Francis Shrimp with its stripped hackle stalk tail. A touch of the modern has been added with holographic Mylar body and the tail pained with fluorescent paint. Garish looking at times, the pattern has been responsible for large bags of fish on days that nothing else would seem to work. Often fished on a sinking like, the pattern is fished slowly around the stream, and the tipped back through the lie, where it can be left to hover, often producing arm-wrenching takes.
