A pattern originally developed on the River Ness in the north of Scotland, it has proven to be an excellent pattern for clear water conditions. It is especially useful when the grilse are running, when its distinctive Black and Yellow body seem Irrestible at times.
The Black Shrimp was developed by noted Highland angler the late John Cathcart, in memory of an angling friend. The pattern is described in John's book 'On the Beat with Black Shrimp', a fascinating account of some 50 years of angling.
